Last night I spoke to an incredibly warm, interested, and serious crowd of book lovers at the Westchester Jewish Center Sisterhood and the Hendel Family Library in Mamaroneck. The QNA was intense and interesting. I taped it and am sharing it with my readers here: https://soundcloud.com/phyllis-chesler/westchester-jewish-center-sisterhood-qa-11315 Thank you Arlene Ratzabi, the librarian who invited me, and thank you, women of the Sisterhood! They gave me a wonderful introduction and afterwards, a present--the loveliest bracelet to ward off the evil eye finely crafted by an Israeli jeweler. Afterwards, someone asked me if I was afraid. "Afraid? Of what?" I answered. "You are out there saying things out loud that people do not even dare whisper to themselves." "Afraid?" It had never occurred to me--but perhaps, from now on, I will wear the bracelet as protection.
