Tifereth Israel in New Bedford, Massachusetts
Tifereth Israel in New Bedford, Massachusetts asked me to speak about "The Cost of Exposing Anti-Semitism and the Even Higher Cost of Failing To Do So." This was an excellent subject and I worked on 30 drafts before I thought it was ready to deliver. Actually, I am still working on it. Rabbi Rafi Kanter, Professor Mel Yoken (who had suggested I be invited) and the pillars of the community received me so warmly and graciously, fed me, and then listened to me speak with great attentiveness and even pleasure. The synagogue itself is quite beautiful and I spoke on the bimah. Many people who came to hear me speak had known of my work and afterwards, came up to tell me how it had influenced, changed, or even saved their lives. Getting to hear this in one's own lifetime is a tremendous gift.
