Sweet, Sweet Birds—and the Vaccine
Feb 24, 2021
These two beauties appeared yesterday on Donna Hughes’s farm, as perfectly turned out as they were on the day they were first created. Oh, if I could only see them fly! How well suited they are for every kind of weather. They are especially consoling since, after being cancelled three times, I’ve just come from my second vaccination. It was an expedition that took almost four hours, door to door, because the traffic and construction to Queens was heavy and the lines in the hospital were ever so long. People on walkers and canes, trying to keep distanced, not always succeeding, kind nurses and hospital officials. In two weeks, I’m good to go. But how long will this vaccine last? With whom can I safely mingle—only with those who have also been fully vaccinated? Wearing masks? Not wearing masks?
