Nobel Winner Malala Yousafzai Donates Thousands to Gaza Schools Used by Hamas
Our latest and youngest-ever Nobel prize winner has announced that she is donating $50,000.00 to rebuild an UNRWA school in Gaza. She made this announcement in Stockholm, where she accepted the prestigious World's Children's Prize and donated it all to Gaza. She is not donating her Nobel prize winnings, which is usually a cool million.
Who got to her? Has no one told her that so many UNRWA schools in Gaza were used to store weapons and to hide terrorists dressed as civilians? Does she not know that Hamas in Gaza have used civilians, including child civilians, as human shields—that they trapped vulnerable civilians in their homes and would not allow them to evacuate in the hope that Israel would follow through on their warnings, and bomb a particular building because Hamas's weapons were stored there?
Finally, has no one told her that UNRWA is the biggest boondoggle in the world, that it has been impoverishing civilians, fattening the bank accounts of terrorist leaders, buying weapons? In 1980, Afghan refugees never similarly received five generations of support from the UN, the EU, and the international community; only the corrupt Palestinian elite did, and for the sole purpose of waging continual war against the Jews of Israel.
Malala Yousafzai is the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban because she wanted education for girls. She lived—due to British medical intervention. She also received the Nobel Prize for her inspiring stand.
Until now, I have always described Malala Yousafzai as incredibly brave and inspiring. That she is—but she is also very young. I began to worry about her when I read the speech she delivered in Philadelphia at Forbes's recent conference, "Thirty Under Thirty." She urged the West to "send books not bombs" to combat Islamic terrorism and fundamentalism.
I began to worry about her lack of clarity. Does she honestly believe that books would have stopped the men who shot her? In principle, of course, education is crucial, but education takes time, and an opening has to be created that will value books over the prerogatives of gender Apartheid and Jihad—a military opening.
Did the Swedes, the Norwegians, the Danes—impress upon her the importance of taking certain political stands if she wanted to remain acceptable to an increasingly Islamist and pro-Islamist world?
