Always on My Mind

Dearest Readers:

By now, you might suspect that my unusual, almost week-long silence probably means that I'm working on a project--a book, not merely an article. I am not yet telling you what it's about, but I surely will. The truth is: I have at least four ongoing book projects underway. I need a literary agent. (Who doesn't?) I need funding for all that I do. I take no salary but just carrying on is very expensive. Why not consider becoming a paid subscriber?

On my mind, at all times, is what our government plans to do about Iran--and that the Iranians are murdering their own people, even the wounded in hospital beds. It is one of many Evil Regimes that tyrannize its own and anyone else whom it can dominate or, more often, exterminate. Myth aside, Israel is not among such regimes.

Can Russia still be at war with Ukraine? Can the Syrians still be slaughtering the Kurds? Why is the United Nations still standing? Why have Indonesians been recruited to patrol Hamas? Are productive immigrants--not criminals--still being rounded up in America? Can visas for the peaceful, innocent family members of American citizens still be on hold? Can the left-wing-funded, violent, anti-ICE protesters still be at it? How many more antizionist appointments can Mayor Mamdani make? How many more New York City Jews will continue to sing his praises, finding him "charming"?

In other words, is the sky falling, Chicken Little? And why has the regrettable disappearance of one woman, whose daughter happens to be a Talking Head celebrity, been the non-stop focus of every channel for nearly two weeks—people have told me that various news apps send them a barrage of unsolicited hourly updates on the story—while hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of people are being disappeared, shot down, rounded up, murdered? (And may Savannah Guthrie's mother be found safe and sound.) But still, my question stands.

On my mind, even as I'm at work on my book projects, are all the escalating attacks against Jews around the world, and why did the quiet heroism of one fourteen-year-old Jewish girl in Australia, Chaya Dadon, a member of the Chabad community of Bondi Beach, Australia, bring tears to my eyes? All she said was: "I walked into danger and saved two Jewish children." Heroes always move me.

Talking about Australia, I am reposting the latest report from the Australian front, written by Debbie Wiener for the most excellent of groups, Feminists Against Antisemitism. Here it is.

Feminists Against Antisemitism

Feb 12

Debbie is a lawyer with an interest in Holocaust history and the betrayal of feminists post October 7th.

Just after Holocaust Memorial Day, at work, someone asked how I am. I replied, ‘Okay, all things considered.’ My interlocutor, an intelligent, educated man, looked at me curiously. He clearly had no idea what the reference to ‘all things’ might be. I let it go. Because you can’t be up for a lesson every day, can you?

Or can you? Or should you? It’s exhausting really, this constant need to be ever-present, ever on alert, watching, listening, wondering where the next libel will come from, where the next demonising, gaslighting, minimising and othering will come from.

It’s not often that I am glad my parents are dead. But with the daily growth in Antizionist Jew hatred, I am glad my father isn’t around to witness that.

He used to talk about the fights at schools and universities, the ‘Zyid’ (yid) name-calling, the attempts to make the Jews sit at the back in lectures, the numerus clausus and his joy at being able to practise his religion here in freedom. But now?

Now, when antisemitism is disguised in virtue-signalling clothing, and people feel liberated, finally, finally, to let their inner Jew hatred hang out in antizionist language, we have a choice. We can roll over and hide or join the other tokenised Jews who hope the virtue signalers won’t come for them (here’s a free tip: you can never be unJewish enough for them, so forget it), or we can be out there and not resile, not give in, not capitulate to the haters.

“Facts will never deter the disciples”

Whilst all this is going on, we have had the ongoing consequences of the burning of the Adelaide Writers Festival, that bonfire having been lit by The Excellent Jew (not just any old AsAJew good Jew) Louise Adler, whose crony is the irredeemable Antizionist, Randa Abdul Fattah (“RAF”).  Louise, who uses her parents’ experience as Holocaust survivors to give her a patina of invincibility. Look at me, she is shouting. My grandfather was in Baune-la-Rolande and deported to Auschwitz, so I can’t be bad. That gives me a ticket to acceptance. No, Louise, it just demonstrates how far you have fallen into the well of tokenism.

Coupled with that is the cheering squad of 180 writers who jumped ship in sympathy with the aforesaid RAF. Let it be known that those 180 were, in the overwhelming majority, supposed feminists and upholders of human rights, #MeToo and free speech. Except, of course, if you’re a Jew.

After all, those same 180 who leapt off the plank in support of the always speaking, but somehow at the same time always silenced, RAF, were largely silent in the wake of the rapes of Israeli women on October 7, and the ongoing sexual assaults of the hostages, both male and female.   Not one of them has publicly opposed what RAF has said about Zionists and their lack of entitlement to cultural safety, or how 2025 should be the end of Israel. No, they are seemingly just dandy with her hate and bigotry.

And why not? In order to succeed in the Arts or Academia or to be funded by Creative Australia, all you have to do is blather on about genocide, apartheid and colonialism, and it doesn’t really matter what else you say or write, because so long as you are on the Right Side of virtue signalling and spew out libels about Jews and Israel you are safe. Home and hosed.

Antizionism, with its history in Marxism and Soviet era propaganda, has infiltrated the West through academia and poisoned the minds of the young and not-so-young. The obsession with Israel and Zionism is cult-like, and its adherents follow no other god than the Antizionist message. Facts will never deter the disciples: it is fuelled by the wish to see Israel destroyed and its citizens disappeared. But that isn’t genocide, of course, or a genocidal wish.

The Great Silence of the Feminists

Then we come to Iran and the Great Silence of the feminists. And the freedom fighters. Where are the protests? All those who froth at the mouth at the sight of a Zionist and a non-existent genocide are strangely silent when it comes to Iran murdering, oh, perhaps 30 000 in 2 weeks? That’s 30 000 of their own citizens. But the Virtuous Ones are Silent. RAF? Not a word, not a tweet. No zios no news?  Oh, but they are out - supporting the truly genocidal Khomeini.

The simple, undeniable fact is that these virtue signalers only care when they can demonise Jews. They don’t care about human rights otherwise.  No feminists are out demonstrating about the women in Iran. The murderous Iranian regime has held its own populace hostage for 47 years, persecutes and hangs by cranes gays and other minorities, murders women and controls their movements, but the world stays silent. The so-called feminists stay silent.

We will not be complicit in our own demise

This week in Australia, in the wake of the Bondi massacre of jews, we have had the visit of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. The rioters have been out in full force. And leading the pack is Grace Tame, former Australian of the Year for her (righteous) fight against sexual abuse.

What do Greta Thunberg and Grace Tame have in common? Well may you ask. Both warriors of causes. In Greta’s case, it was the environment - daring us to do, well, something. But something happened along the way. We probably shouldn’t be surprised. Something happened after the fact.

Greta, instead of waving her finger at us, now waves her keffiyeh on her boat into Gaza and on her return from Israel after having eaten a challah sandwich.

Grace, having famously turned away from the then Prime Minister, now turns away from Zionists as if we are somehow contagious with the plague - which, in her eyes, I suppose we are.

They are both now screaming to ‘globalise the intifada’. Grace, screaming ‘from Gadigal to Gaza, Palestine will be free’, has been a poster child for the Antizionists. Last year, Nike ended their association with her due to her extreme views. Having been a victim-survivor of sexual abuse, you would think that Tame would be more sympathetic to the victims of 7 October, but you see, it’s all hashtag for me but not for thee. Believe all women, unless of course they are Jewish women. Perhaps they weren’t tame enough... or too tame. And I must have missed her campaign for the women of Iran. From being a warrior against misogyny, she has morphed into a warrior for hate and bigotry.

As for Greta, she’s probably off again on her boat. I suppose she has been too busy booking her cruise to Israel to worry about the Iranian women. Perhaps their sandwiches aren’t so tasty.

We can half-joke about these two, but the tragic thing is that they are held up as modern day Joan of Arcs, the ignorant and historically illiterate following them like lemmings.

The yelling in Sydney was a frenzied, orgiastic re-enactment of a Nuremberg rally. The post October hate has metastasised into a soviet inspired, eliminationist movement. It doesn’t seek coexistence in some garden of dope-smoking, matcha-drinking Eden, but the removal of Jews from Israel and Zionists from everywhere.

‘Go back to Palestine’ has become ‘Go back to Poland’; or preferably, go into the sea and disappear. They cannot and will not accept that we will not be complicit in our own demise.

And so I think back to Holocaust Memorial Day and the attempts by the Antizionists to appropriate our suffering and our memories, and their attempt to diminish us. The ultimate obscenity of putting Anne Frank in a keffiyah.

Perhaps it wasn’t so surprising that my colleague looked at me blankly. Bondi will be forgotten soon. The online hate has exploded since then, accusing Jews, sorry Zios, of being, variously, agents of their own slaughter or deserving of it. Not everyone believes that, of course, but the worm is there.

Will hate speech legislation poison the worm? Will bans on the hate marches, the chants to ‘globalise the intifada’ (i.e., murder all Jews) or ‘from the river to the sea’ (i.e., murder all Jews within Israel and destroy Israel) succeed? I know not. Only that we have to try.

For too long, the West has been held hostage by these haters, and it is time to dump them, metaphorically speaking, into the void.

From the psalms it is written, ‘From the depths I cried out to the Lord, and He answered me and brought me to a place of safety’.

And so it will be.
